Prague, 22 November 2023 - CICA Secretary General Ambassador Kairat Sarybay paid a working visit to the Prague-based Documentation Centre of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), a CICA Observer Organization since 1999.
The Secretary General met with Head of the Centre Ambassador Irena Krasnická to discuss archiving and filing of historical records given the Centre's extensive experience in preserving OSCE records since the early 1970s.
Ambassador Kairat Sarybay provided the Head of Centre with a brief overview of CICA activities, the Organization's transformation process and specific steps to strengthen CICA.
Ms. Krasnická, for her part, shared the Centre’s history, which began in 1990 with the establishment of the OSCE Secretariat in Prague. In 2015, it transformed into the OSCE Documentation Centre dedicated to managing OSCE's historical records and providing digital access to them, including for scientific and educational purposes.
It should be noted that the experience of the OSCE and other international organizations in this domain is pertinent to the CICA Secretariat in the context of its transformation, as one of its objectives includes managing archives, as well as collecting, processing and distributing CICA documents.
