Objectives:
The side-event, held on the margins of the 82nd session of UN ESCAP, aims to promote sustainable growth in CICA Member States through advancing a society for all ages. It will highlight CICA’s ongoing work and achievements in the Economic and Human dimensions, with a particular focus on the activities of its advisory bodies, including the Women’s Council, Youth Council and Business Council.
The discussion will address current and emerging demographic and socio-economic trends, including decent work and productive employment across age groups, healthy and active ageing, women’s economic empowerment, the future of care, and social integration. It will also provide a platform for exchanging best practices and exploring ways to enhance cooperation and build synergies between CICA and UN ESCAP.
The side-event is expected to contribute to strengthening sectoral cooperation, advancing the implementation of CICA Confidence Building Measures in the Economic and Human dimensions, and increasing the regional visibility and impact of both organizations through closer partnership between their Secretariats.
