Astana, 27 January 2026 — The Deputy Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ms. Zhang Ling, received Ms. Bermet Moldobaeva, Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, at the CICA Headquarters. The meeting reaffirmed the importance CICA attaches to its interaction and cooperation with IOM and underscored the shared commitment of both sides to advancing dialogue on migration-related issues of increasing regional and global relevance.
During the exchange, the sides reviewed the respective mandates and activities of their organizations, noting the long-standing engagement between CICA and IOM, including the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2008 and recent efforts to revitalize practical cooperation.
Particular attention was given to climate-induced migration as a promising area for enhanced collaboration, reflecting its priority status for the Azerbaijani Chairmanship and Member States. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening technical dialogue, promoting the exchange of good practices and fostering closer institutional synergies aimed at supporting safe, orderly and sustainable migration across the region.
