On the occasion of CICA Day, we celebrate 33 years since the visionary initiative to create the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia was first presented. This milestone invites reflection on the path CICA has taken — from an initial aspiration to foster dialogue and confidence among Asian nations to a broad commitment to promoting comprehensive security, cooperation, and mutual understanding across the region. The evolution of CICA embodies a conviction that genuine peace and development in Asia rest on inclusiveness, trust, and collective responsibility.
Over the past three decades, CICA has matured into a dynamic framework for cooperation, enabling its Member States to engage in substantive dialogue, pursue confidence building measures, and collaborate on addressing regional and global challenges. Through these efforts, CICA continues to strengthen the culture of consultation and partnership that underpins stability and progress across our continent.
CICA Day offers an opportunity to recognise the progress achieved through these endeavours and to look ahead with renewed determination. The CICA Secretariat remains committed to supporting Member States in further advancing CICA’s principles and objectives — working together for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Asia.
