Special Ministerial Meeting, 24 September 2020

On September 24, 2020, a special meeting of CICA foreign Ministers was hosted by the Republic of Kazakhstan in virtual mode, in connection with the transfer of the chairmanship from Tajikistan to Kazakhstan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan S. Mukhriddin, as the outgoing CICA Chairman, briefed the delegates on the main milestones of Tajikistan's chairmanship in the CICA, thanked the Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat Mr. H. Mirzozoda and all members of the platform for their contribution to the CICA process and wished success to the Republic of Kazakhstan as Chairman of the forum.

Further, the meeting was moderated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mukhtar Tleuberdy as Chairman of the CICA ( M. Tleuberdy's speech ). He expressed gratitude to the Republic of Tajikistan for its contribution to the development of CICA, noted the high level of preparation and holding of the Fifth CICA Summit, which took place in June 2019 in Dushanbe. He noted that there is a need for institutional development of the CICA to the level of the Organization for Security and Development in Asia (OSDA). In the speech of H.E. M. Tleuberdy, the Concept of the priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship was outlined.

In accordance with the approved agenda, H.E. M. Tleuberdy gave the floor to Mr. H. Mirzozada (H. Mirzozoda's speech ).

In accordance with the agenda, the Council of Foreign Ministers approved the candidacy of Mr. Kairat Sarybay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Austria and international organizations located in Vienna, for the post of Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat (Biography and K. Sarybay's speech ).

Further, the meeting continued its work in the format of speeches by the Heads of Delegations of 27 participating countries (List of CFM participants ).

Based on the results of the meeting’s work, the Minutes of Meeting will be circulated, reflecting the content of the speeches of 27 CICA members, to form a Roadmap for intensifying activities within the CICA framework.
