Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia Ambassador Kairat Sarybay held a meeting with Mr Shigeo Katsu, President of Nazarbayev University, to discuss possible areas of cooperation in international higher education.
Ambassador Kairat Sarybay informed Mr Katsu about the initiative of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to create a partnership network of leading universities of the CICA Member States, which he presented at the Sixth CICA Summit in October 2022.
Mr Shigeo Katsu, in turn, shared the experience of Nazarbayev University, which is a co-founder of the Asian Universities Alliance, comprising 15 universities from 13 countries. He noted that the Alliance, established in 2017, aims to jointly address regional and global issues in higher education as well as in economic, scientific and technological development.
The Secretary General thanked the President of Nazarbayev University for new ideas and expressed hope for further interaction.
