The CICA Member States participate in the exercise on alerting duty emergency response services




The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic held a joint exercise for the CICA Member States on alerting duty services to emergency situations using the example of wildfires in border areas. The event was held online on 3 November 2022 and brought together representatives from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Thailand.

According to the fire services, space monitoring helped to detect fire hotspots in the border areas of the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan neighbouring Kyrgyzstan that lead to steppe fires, which have the potential risk of spreading to the territory of the bordering state. In this regard, representatives of the Ministries of Emergency Situations of the two countries examined the plan of interaction for emergency recovery in the neighbouring territories.

The exercise participants also learned about the set of operational and technical measures taken by the duty services of the Crisis Management Centers (CMC) of the Ministries of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, including those on sustainable and ongoing coordination of rescue forces and means in response to natural and man-made emergency situations.

During the exercise, representatives of the Ministries of Emergency Situations of the two countries also discussed potential risks in preventing fires and modern methods of firefighting.

Following the training, the participants welcomed Kazakhstan's initiative to conduct exercises and expressed the hope that such an exchange that allows for specific practical application would continue within CICA.
