The best practices and experience in Natural Disaster Management was shared by the Republic of Iran in capacity of coordinator of CBMs in this area, at an online CICA seminar “Drying of Wetlands and Rivers and Dust Spreading - Case Study: Management Experience of Iran in Urmia Lake”, held on 13 July 2021.

 The seminar was attended by the participants from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Thailand and Turkey.

 Mr. Mohammad Reza Akbari national coordinator of Conservation of Iranian Wetlands Project (CIWP) gave presentation on efforts made in successfully reviving the drying Urmia Lake located in Northwest of Iran. It was the joint project of Department of Environment of Iran and United Nations Developing Programme (UNDP).  

 Participants noted the usefulness of the management experience and best practices applied in Establishment of Sustainable Agriculture, Participatory Technology Development, Integrated Projects, Diversification of Livelihood, and Capacity building of different stakeholders.
