CICA Chairmanship embarks on a new Confidence Building Measure "Epidemiological Safety, Public Health and Pharmaceuticals" on February 26, 2021

The Republic of Kazakhstan, which assumed the Chairmanship in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in September 2020, embarked on a new CICA Confidence Building Measure “Epidemiological Safety, Public Health and Pharmaceuticals”.

In the fall of 2020, Member States of the Forum supported the initiative of Nur-Sultan to use the CICA platform to exchange information on best practices, as well as to provide assistance to countries in need, with a call to reject any politicization in this matter.

On February 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Halyk Charity Foundation donated humanitarian aid to people living in the vast CICA area.

In his address, CICA Executive Director Ambassador Kairat Sarybay noted that Kazakhstan suited the action to the word in its desire to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In the opinion of those present, that action once again confirmed that CICA had evolved from the idea of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, into an international organization capable to provide an adequate and effective response to the emerging threats and challenges.

Ambassador Sarybay expressed hope that other CICA Member States would follow the suit of the Kazakh Chairmanship and give substance to the Forum for the sake of building confidence and security in Asia.
