The 5th CICA Business Forum and the Second Meeting of the CICA Business Council organised by the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana on 10-11 November 2016. Over 500 representatives from government, financial institutions, Small and Medium Enterprises, entrepreneurship development institutions, women’s organisations and diplomats from CICA Member States attended the events. The main goal of the CICA Business Forum was enhancement of interaction and cooperation between the businesses of CICA region.
Mr. Arifkhanov Aidar, Vice-Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan made the inaugural address. Mr. Yujing Zhang, President of CCCME and Chairman of the CICA Business Council, Mr. Nevzat Uyanik, Ambassador of Republic of Turkey, Mr. Kanysh Tuleushin, Chairman of the Board of “Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund”, JSC, Mr. Giovanni Capannelle, Director of Asian Development Bank in Kazakhstan and Ambassador Gong Jianwei, Executive Director of CICA addressed the plenary session. Memorandums of Cooperation among Entrepreneur Support Institutions of Russia, Belarus, Mongolia and Kazakhstan were signed.
Participants deliberated on themes of Green development, Developing partnership between business and Government and on Best practices of the CICA member states in support of Franchising in the three panel sessions following the inaugural meeting. Case studies on objectives and achievements were also made by representatives of various participating organisations. In Forums on “Women Entrepreneurship” and “Micro-financing”, participants presented their experiences and strategies on how to improve the effectiveness of their ventures.
An Exhibition “KazFranch-2016” with participation of Kazakhstan franchisors was also held simultaneously at the venue.
In an exclusive session between the Chinese and Kazakh investors on “Cooperation development within the Framework of strategies “One Belt One Road” and “Nurly Zhol”, speakers underlined the huge potential benefits of cooperation between the two countries some of which were already being realized. Some speakers also dwelt on logistical problems being faced by them.
In the Second Meeting of CICA Business Council suggestions on improving the functioning of the Council were made by participants, which were duly taken note of by the CICA Secretariat. The 5th CICA Business Forum concluded with an address by Ambassador Gong Jianwei following which an excursion to M/s. GLB, a concrete products company was organised.
