STATEMENT BY THE CICA TURKISH CHAIRMANSHIP

CONCERNING THE LOSS OF LIVES IN THE TERROR ATTACK IN INDIA

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Turkish Chairmanship expresses its profound sorrow over the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of at least 21 people and injured more than 141 people on 13 July 2011 at 3 different points in the city of Mumbai in India.

The CICA Turkish Chairmanship strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, committed no matter when, where or by whom, as it constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. The Chairmanship also stresses that terrorism constitutes a direct violation of human rights and, in particular, the right to life, freedom, security and development.

The Turkish Chairmanship conveys its deepest condolences to the people of India and particularly to the families of those who lost their lives, and wishes a speedy recovery to those who were injured during the terrorist attack.
