On October 22-23, 2019, in Aktau, in accordance with the work plan of the CICA Secretariat, a study visit of representatives of the CICA member states and observers to the naval base of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place. The event was held within the framework of the military-political dimension in the work of the CICA.

During the event, participants were greeted by Colonel Alibek Kulbaev, Head of the Center for Arms Control and Inspection Support of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

   Sholpan Yelkeeva, a member of the professional staff of the CICA Secretariat, made a presentation on the implementation of activities within the military-political dimension of the CICA . ( Presentation ) It was noted that within the framework of the military-political dimension, Kazakhstan , as the coordinator of the dimension, held 6 training seminars and organized visits to military facilities in the vicinity of Karaganda, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, the Baikonur cosmodrome. The People's Republic of China held a training seminar on border control, India organized 3 visits of high-ranking Indian officers to the office of the CICA Secretariat in Nur-Sultan, within which a briefing was held for the military attaches of the CICA member states.        

Captain Damir Khairullin presented information about the history of the creation and modern tasks of the naval base.

Within the framework of the event, an introductory briefing was held on the history of creation and the main tasks of the base. In addition, foreign delegations visited a training center where junior ship specialists are trained, a museum and a training station for damage control.   The guests were also shown a military ship manufactured by the Republic of Kazakhstan, designed to destroy surface and underwater targets.

Confidence-building measures and forms of cooperation in the military-political dimension are set out in the Catalog adopted by the CICA member states in 2004.
